Press Release Ellen DeGeneres Interview with Tanya Yvette Pritchett May 26, 2020
Next up is Tanya Pritchett. She is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has given her time, talents and finances to helping families affected by chronic diseases and educating people about health and wellness. I first met with Tanya in Las Vegas to discuss her next project and what has led her to this moment in her life. She has recently completed the New York Pilates Studio ® Teacher Certification Program and was in Nevada doing research to open her health and wellness spa as well as to celebrate her 10-year wedding anniversary. She entered looking radiant! Her hair was done in a natural twist style that hung loose just past her shoulders and she wore a very stylish, sexy but sophisticated, split-leg jumpsuit.
Ellen: Wow! You are looking radiant today; what a beautiful jumpsuit! So, you’re celebrating your 10th wedding anniversary. How did you decide on this place?
Tanya: Thank you Ellen. My husband and I love to travel! We both wanted to come to Vegas or Costa Rica for years. We decided on Las Vegas because we went abroad last year so we decided to stay in the states this time. Vegas is a great location because there are over 300 hot springs in Nevada and I’m in the process of researching the healing benefits of hot springs and ways in which I may be able to incorporate those benefits into my health and wellness spa that I will open on or before December 31, 2025.
Ellen: That’s wonderful! “Kill two birds with one stone.”
Tanya: Exactly! 🙂
Ellen: Where did the idea of the spa come from and why do you want to open it?
Tanya: Some college girlfriends and I used to have an annual spa weekend to get together and see each other. We would visit different areas depending on where each of us was located. Once we went to Atlanta and the spa day was at this luxurious, isolated resort set back in the woods. The landscape was breathtaking and the spa treatments were amazing! I liked the resort, secluded and peaceful setting so that was my first thought for opening a spa with a similar setting. Later, I had visited my first all-nude spa in California and it was very different from anything else I had experienced. It offered the typical spa services such as massages, body treatments, sauna, steam room etc. but, it also had an area for DIY facials as well as hot and cold pools. Most of the day spas I had been to in the DMV [DC, MD, VA] always felt rushed and there weren’t any nude spas; I found something very refreshing about being able to enjoy the pools and treatments in the nude. So, I decided to open my own and merge the tranquility I felt in Atlanta with “naturalness”, pools and DIY I got in Cali. My husband had suffered years with migraines and my mom with rheumatoid arthritis. I had read that the minerals in hot springs may help these conditions so I wanted to research and see if this is the case, then how can I incorporate that into my spa for people suffering the same or similar conditions. The concept was a work in progress and many other things came before that I wanted to accomplish so, I put that dream on hold until now. It was a wise decision because now I know so much more about health and wellness as well as about myself.
Ellen: I’ve read that you have struggled with your own health. What has your health journey been like and how has that led to you knowing more about yourself?
Tanya: I’m not sure that I would describe my health journey as a “struggle” but more so as a period of disobedience and self-discovery. At the time I began gaining weight I knew that my body was God’s temple but I was disobedient in caring for it as such. I became lackadaisical and blinded to my behaviors as well as ignoring information I knew about weight gain and metabolism after age 30 and suddenly I was faced with the challenge of being overweight. I allowed my old blue-print to play on my subconscious (partly because I didn’t know any better) and went through bouts of depression, extreme stress and anxiety and used those things as excuses for not taking better care of myself. At one point I weighed almost 190 lbs.! I had cellulite and was disgusted with myself and ashamed that I had let myself get to that point. For several years I tried various forms of exercise and nutritional changes but, I didn’t maintain because my old blueprint kept sneaking in to sabotage my success.
Ellen: What do you mean by your “old blueprint?”
Tanya: The majority of our thoughts, approximately 90%, are controlled by our subconscious. Although we have the ability to control what is relayed to our subconscious, and thus control our thoughts, many of us do not know or understand how to do this. Therefore, our thoughts are based upon our “blueprint”; i.e. all of our experiences, influences, lessons, etc. that we have had through the years starting at birth. Hence, my old blueprint produced excuses. I had to learn how to change my old blueprint, that which had influenced my subconscious, in order to truly understand myself and make the necessary changes to control my thoughts and change my life. Once I learned how to do this I was able to permanently release the unhealthy weight before December 31. 2017. I’ve been more energetic and peaceful maintaining a healthy weight of 135-140 lbs. ever since.
Additionally, I couldn’t have had a successful ISAGENIX business without practicing what I preached. I had originally started using those products in 2011 and then off and on until about 2013 but, then stopped. My old blueprint had me convinced that I couldn’t afford the products and that I had to wait until I could begin the business to get my products paid for before I could go back to using them. However, in November 2015 I decided to not allow this old thought process to take control and I controlled my thoughts and told myself that I just need to “do it now!”; a mantra I learned and repeated daily through the Master Key Mastermind Alliance Experience.
Ellen: Well, it definitely shows in your smile and your “glow”; you exude radiance! How did you learn how to take control of your thoughts and change your blueprint? That sounds pretty hard.
Tanya: Through the Master Key Mastermind Alliance Experience provided by Training Solutions, LLC. In this system the founders Mark and Davene Januszewski provided training exercises that helped me empower myself to achieve my Definite Major Purpose.
Ellen: Okay…I’m connecting the dots now. One of the reasons I wanted to interview you is because of your philanthropic efforts. I read that in 2017 you donated funds to help the Divine Dance Institute advance its goals of opening the school in its own building as well as regularly contributing to several causes including diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, sick cell anemia, the St. Augustine Catholic School as well as your alma maters, Howard University and University of Maryland. Last year, in 2019, you started a scholarship foundation to help students whose parents are suffering from these and other chronic diseases and have been unable to work. Are these things what you mean by “achieving your Definite Major Purpose”?
Tanya: These were definitely results of that achievement but, what I really mean by achieving my Definite Major Purpose (or DMP) is that I was able to manifest my personal pivotal needs of Autonomy and Liberty thereby being able to accomplish those things and more. I also started earning profits in my ISAGENIX and photography businesses and spent more quality time with family and friends. We started taking annual vacations in July 2016. So far, we’ve travelled to Cedar Point (we love rollercoasters!), Florida to celebrate my best friend’s father’s 75th birthday, Brazil, the Caribbean, Australia for my son’s 21st birthday (he was there studying abroad) and beyond including an epic, global voyage on the Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas to celebrate my and my husband’s birthdays in March 2019. The cruise was a reward to myself for achieving my ultimate liberty to be financially free!
Ellen: Wow! That’s a lot in 5 years! How did you have the time and money to do all of those things?
Tanya: I traded non-essential spending and a minimum of 2 hours TV time per day to invest more money and time into myself and working on my businesses, I exchanged sleeping late to awake no later than 8:00 AM every day, rejoiced in the gift of a new day, meditated, prayed and nurtured the person I wanted to be. I followed the Law of Giving and I learned to always keep my promises.
Ellen: That’s definitely an inspiration. I am so pleased that you agreed to speak with me to share your uniqueness and your journey. I’m sure that you will continue to unlock new and inspiring things in your life. You’ve unlocked something in me for sure and I would like to help you in your endeavors by donating $20K to your scholarship fund. I would also like to send you and your husband to The Spring Resort and Spa, Costa Rica for one week. I know that was another of your choices to check out the hot springs so this will help you to do some more research in the privacy of your own suite and enjoy another anniversary/honeymoon.
Tanya’s quiet for a moment; she has silent tears running down her cheeks and takes a moment to compose herself.
Tanya: Thank you, Ellen! This is a blessing! I started a blog during the Master Key Experience that I entitled “Master Key Unlocking Me”. That whole experience truly helped me to unlock so many doors that I had closed and locked either consciously or subconsciously but, more importantly; it helped me unlock so much of myself that I never knew existed. I’m overwhelmingly humbled to be able to help others unlock their true potential. There will be many young people who will benefit from this. But, I could never have done all of this alone. I would be remiss not to thank my sister, Flo Bradley, who first introduced me to the training through her own experiences and another training Mark and Davene offer called Go90Grow as well as thanking Mark and Davene for their vision, following the Law of Giving and obedience to their DMPs, all of my business partners and of course the love and support of my husband.
Ellen: Please continue to pay it forward. Thank you for joining us and remember “Be kind to one another!”
